As our records (we still call them records) make their way into the cavernous halls of streaming services around the globe, you may find them in the goshdarndedest places. Deezer is based in Paris, did you know? We at Berkeley Cat Records have prepared a Distrokidus Widgetabbitus Manyus Linkything to illustrate the ubiquitous presence of Our Grand Ska Rabbit. Note the highly technical terms. Marvel at the wealth of choices. Note! That in fact, if you use any of these services for your musical entertainment, you may EASILY find many other Berkeley Cat Records therein, simply by searching in their little search boxes. Why, in my day, we used to WALK to a RECORD STORE with our paper route money and expend it on Telegraph Avenue at RECORD STORES (gaaaasp, a reverent hush fills the auditorium as our speaker pauses dramatically), and NOW! In the absurd and amazing WEALTH of Internettus Globalitus, WE can find all the records we want from AT HOME IN OUR PAJAMAS!! Stating the obvious, I knowibus, BUT! I don’t mind celebrating the fun aspects of things, even as so many things have gone utterly batshittyus.
Here’s a screenshot, which also doubles as a link, due to amazing wizardry:
What ELSE!! What else indeed. My newest slab o’ rockn’roll fun will soon be delivered to radio stations in many places I’ve never visited (and some that I have)! Many many many many radio stations (that’s a lot) will receive On Top Of The World in their sparkly inboxes in the next few days. DJs and MDs be on the lookout for it please, and give a holler if you want a station ID from me. I’ve done some of those lately and they are rather fun.
That’s about it then. Here’s a portrait of me in my natural habitat, recently penned by Shannon Wheeler as part of his nature studies collection.
All best,
Eric Din
interesting post! No idea their are so many subscription services and how many ways an artist is compensated
