Greetings,
First THANKS for the warm welcome y’all have given..
RABBITUS MAXIMUS!!
Tazy Phillipz played it on his famous Ska Parade show last night, and J. Neo Marvin has it cued up in his fantabulous Ear Candle Radio show, and some o’ y’all have purchased the track on Bandcamp and we’re just delighted, so thanks everyone! Share it up, do.
Next up from The UpTones 1986 concert tape is:
COOL VIBE!
And that doesn’t link to anything yet because it’s not out yet :)
January 27th, it goes live, a Caturday of course, on our beloved Bandcamp AND ye olde streaming serviceseses. Cool Vibe is an instrumental romp composed by Scott “Ska-T” Jensen, featuring the amazing horn section of he, Dave Ellis and Adam Beach.
An amusing note - when I uploaded the song to Distrokid (our streaming distributor) this morning, I balked, as I often do, at the GENRE selection part. It’s extremely limited, and frankly ridiculous, so you just pick the LEAST WRONG choice and move on. People often default to “Pop” because it is the most vague and generic genre classification, harmless and even a little hopeful. I mean, you WANT your song to be Popular, right? Anyway, this time.. I took a screenshot of my choices, for fun -
- from the Distrokid upload interface. That was the least wrong genre selection I could come up with, using their pulldown menu. No fault of Distrokid - genre definitions have always been a mess - AND! If you have a piece that’s HARD to categorize with pre-existing genre names, then it seems POSSIBLE that you have created something.. ORIGINAL! And with that, we look forward to sharing Ska-T’s funky groovy horn-heavy rockity jazz jam, from The Before Time, yes we do.
Keep the vibes cool,
Happy MLK Jr. Day,
and thanks for your earballs,
-Berkeley Cattus Wabbitus the 1st
good one!
