Props and thanks to Curtis Meacham, Parker Walrus and Legal Disaster AND! the wonderful folks at Shady Oak Barrel House, for a delightful Friday Caterwaul. Thanks also to my lovely pals who attended, and some new pals for whom reality bended (what?!) Hadda be there, I guess.
PROOF! Of concept! Wish You Were Here DOES work as a punked-out, uptempo acoustic number, so you SHOULD start a Punk Floyd tribute band if you are so inclined! Ahem. In any case, I think I’ll record MY version of the above and release it as a single. Why not? My first cover. Yes I will do this. See how easy, to decide?
Tip o’ the meow-hat to Leslie Jackson for snapping this rather delicious photo of me as I clearly am delivered to the Shady Oak stage out of a bottle, by a kind of goddess. I highly recommend the experience.
That acoustic Martin is a favorite companion these days. My goodness, I love the sound of it. All mahogany, and do you know what? I still struggle to spell “mahogany.” It’s a very warm, very strummy beast.
Now then. Time to catch up on some Berkeley Cattery Haberdashery Factory Doings (BCHFDs) What’s up next round these parts? Rad new single from The FAVES in the pipeline, almost ready! The cats are also helping prepare the “Charlotte” single I have meowled about in these very pages, AND I’m scanning thru some more video footage to see what might be foistworthy!
I’ll wager it’s better to be too busy than not busy enough. But there are limits to that. And this year has been packed. Taking stock, selecting, considering what’s next. I doubt I’ll do any more live acoustic caterwauls before 2024, BUT! I am so glad I got my paws wet and tried it, as it turns out to be very fun and satisfying indeed. Thanks to all who helped me get there - oh there are many. Shannon Wheeler really nailed it with his drawing of me with a giant acoustic guitar, as he understood what a hurdle it was for me to even imagine playing a set without a band.
Signing off for now, and as I often say at the end of my PodCATS, with utmost gratitude and love, “We’ll see ya next time, maybe.” Purrs,
Thy Din
