Good citizens of Planet Earth,
We are delighted to share the launch of SKA TREK, by Stiff Richards!
https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/stiffrichards1/ska-trek
Recorded in the mid-’90s, by my fellow UpTones Paul Jackson (who conceived the track and created the arrangement), Ben Eastwood (who played the intergalactic bass), and myself Eric Dinwiddie (on guitar), along with drummer Tuan Titlestad, this is our Ska narration of a saga which was alternately titled, the 3 Questions of Ska. For which you will hear why. There are indeed three questions. And, answers!
The session was engineered and mixed by Michael Rosen and produced by Matthew King Kaufman, in San Leandro, in the East Bay area of California in the United States of America on planet Earth, somewhere in the Milky Way galaxy.
The music is a cover of the STAR TREK original 1960s TV series theme, alternately titled, "Where No Man Has Gone Before," composed by Alexander Courage. This piece has been covered and reworked a great many times, by everything from surf bands to orchestras to jazz bands, and indeed, by some ska bands. There’s more than one called Ska Trek, even! Collect ‘em all? Ours sees release for the first time today, on Berkeley Cat Records.
We invite you to share it on your Faceplaces, Twitters, Blueskys or other space stations of your liking. IF you use a streaming service, please DO add it to your public playlists if you do that sort of thing. Purchasing it on iTunes would be awesome of course, for those who still do that, we’ll actually get a few pennies, from that. But however you may enjoy, we’re glad to share, and it’s everywhere - I just hit all the checkboxes for this, every service that Distrokid delivers to, it’s on. So, from being impossible to find, to very easy to find indeed, overnight! I find that as amazing as a transporter full of tribbles.
Ska saves the universe. We knew it would, eventually. Skank long, and prosper.
