Greetings and Happy Caturholidays and such,
This gave me a chuckle so I’m forwarding it as a Mewsletter item. Whenever one puts lyrics into the Distrokid interface, they send one a confirmation (or rejection) based on formatting and other criteria. The erudite and eloquent lyrics to That's Not What He Said looked so funny to me printed out like this, so here for amusement is a look behind the scenes at part of the sausage-making that goes into a digital online release. The (excerpted) note from DK:
“Good news! Lyrics approved: That's Not What He Said

Hi,
Good news! We reviewed the lyrics you submitted for "That's Not What He Said" and everything looks good.
We've sent the lyrics to Apple and they should be live in iTunes and Apple Music within a week or so (or a week after the song goes live, if it's not live yet).

End quote!
I feel I should get a Pulitzer, or at least an honorary English degree from Yale, don’t you? It’s my finest work. I’m preparing my speech to the Nobel Committee now.
Oh, as a fun aside, if YOU want to distribute YOUR music (and lyrics!) to streaming services via Distrokid, you can. We encourage our Berkeley Cat artists and fam and friends to DIY (do it yourself!) as much as possible, and if you use this referral link to sign up, they’ll give you 7% off, and me ten bucks! It’s a win win, Persephone.
Now then! The above literary masterpiece appears in streaming services starting this week, with this artwork hot off the desk of Mr. Wheeler. The song is already in Bandcamp, per tradition.
TOMORROW, I will write Mews about a very different imminent release indeed, which finds our hero returning yet again to early ska-mod origins, and blueberry muffins and tea.
Verily yours,
Eric Roy Dinwiddie
